Employment of Anolyte solution on Bioland poultry farm

Practical attempt

Task designation:

On the basis of our particular economic-manner as recognized Bioland business, each application of chemical disinfections - or animal-treatment-method, as well as to the preventive, to our guidelines it is prohibited even to the acute treatment with antibiotics as addition to the feed.

Since the animals come among themselves directly, caused by ground living in the stable and the sufficient outflow outside, exposed the danger of an infection to the natural conditions, worming and salmonellatransfer by birds, are very large.

With conventional methods an effective treatment is hardly possible. The occurrence of an epidemic can lead to the loss of the entire animal existence.

Test method:

For the application of Anolyte in the preventing treatment of putting hens there were still no experiences. An interference was considered in the drinking water. Before the in-stable of 1,000 eighteen weeks old young-hens the stable was cleaned and disinfected with a one percent Anolyte solution and disinfected by using a high pressure cleaners. Since there was no group of comparisons, the test cannot be regarded as evaluable attempt.

Test procedure:

A week after the new in-stable of the animals on 15 and 16 January the first treatment was accomplished, which repeated itself then in the three-month rhythm. On two sequential days in each case 2 litres of Anolyte were given to the water tank of 100 litres, what corresponds to a concentration of 1:50. The drinking water is changed by the solution neither by smell nor coloured, and taken up thus by the animals as normally. A possible reaction to the treatment could not be determined.

Test results:

There is no control-group, so the results must be judged by the previous experiences of the last ten years.

1. The animals are more vital in the outside appearance and have a better plumage.

2. The animal losses are more inferior than in previous years up to the present time, 11 month after beginning, with only 2,5% of the initially-continuance, with which most animals where victims by robbery-birds and foxes in the outflow (forest-proximity), with 4-5%.

3. The putting achievement of the animals is more highly, above all more constant with equal lasting other conditions (stable, discharge, fodder, light). Beginning of putting, at the end of January February reached the achievement of monthly average values of 92%, and still lay in November, after ten months putting period with over 76%. 4. After a putting break of 6 weeks (at the beginning of January to in the middle of February) the animals are absolutely capable to stand a second putting period of 10-11 months which was only conditionally possible in the previous years.

Conclusion:

On the basis of the approximately one year old experience with the application of Anolyte solution in the putting-hen business, this method of the health-control is regarded in the practice as at the moment only certain possibility to get the animal-continuance healthy and vital, and to follow the guidelines of biological agriculture to use of animal-treatment-methods.

The small costs of the treatment stand in extremely favourable relation to the altogether higher performance, to which the safe protection from epidemics still comes in addition. A higher economic income was obtained by higher achievement and smaller losses.
